In November 2014 when Debi & Rob Hertert wanted to connect with other local homesharing hosts, they created a Meetup group which has since blossomed into a great and growing community. Later they added a Facebook group to help members share insights and get help on pressing issues.
In April 2017, an all-day conference was held by hosts for fellow hosts in Portland, Oregon. It was clear from the beginning that people who were opening their homes for short-term rentals were seeking ways to share best practices with each other, enhance their offerings and finding a common voice to address the larger issues of regulation, permitting and advocacy.
We are grateful for the work of companies like Airbnb, VRBO and HomeAway that enable our work as hosts. However, we have issues, concerns and points of view about hosting that only we hosts can address. We are making a powerful contribution to the economic prosperity of our communities, and need to own our futures as hosts, independent of other organizations.
Host2Host has been formed to give voice to us and you, as hosts.
