Join us for an important discussion on Homelessness.
Homelessness now confronts us on virtually every street corner. It has quickly become our city's most critical issue. While we enjoy a growing number of visitors to our fair city, Portland also has experienced staggering growth in its homeless population. The reasons are many, the solutions seem too few. As citizens, we must face this issue head on and find solutions for ourselves, our guests and our city.
Guest speaker, Lynelle Wilcox, is an accidental homeless advocate who will share her many insights about:
- who might become homeless
- different perspectives on homelessness
- ideas about how to balance conflicting emotions and values
Lynelle is very aware that short term rentals are often perceived as contributing to the homelessness crisis. She will share her ideas about how you might turn that criticism around to be seen as allies instead. Bring your open heart, your questions and solutions.
- 6:30pm: purchase food & drink, networking
Food and drinks may be purchased at the Kennedy School's Courtyard Restaurant and brought into the Community Room. Or better yet, come early and join others in the restaurant for dinner before the meetup.
