Portland's Short-Term Rental Platform changes are here!
You've heard about them in the news. Gotten many updates from Host2Host. Expected them way before now. But, finally, finally the STR platform changes are here. Likely you have questions. Everyone has some questions, like:
- What are the changes?
- How will this impact your hosting business?
- How can you successfully navigate the array of changes?
- What happens if you are not permitted when the dust settles?
Join our City of Portland and Platform panel experts as they discuss the platform changes that have recently been implemented, as well as those that are under way. There is much to learn and you'll hear it straight from the source.
Our panel will include: Scott Karter from the City of Portland's revenue division and Mike Liefeld from the Bureau of Development Services (BDS). Monisha Merchant will be there from Airbnb. Members of the panel will have a short presentation and we'll leave plenty of time for your questions.
Do you have a burning question? Do you have a whole lot of questions? Whatever your questions about STR Platform changes, please share them here.

Brief background: In June, 2019 the City of Portland passed new requirements for all Short-Term Rental platforms, including VRBO and Airbnb. Platforms must choose between only serving listings appearing on the city’s STR Registry of permitted STR Hosts, or implementing a Pass Through Registration (PTR) process that allows new hosts to apply through the platform for their permit.
By the date of this meetup, VRBO will have already deleted their listings that lacked permits, and Airbnb will have begun holding local workshops and reached out to all hosts to secure permission to share data with the City.
Program:
- 6:30 pm sharp - General Membership Meeting for all active Host2Host members (no registration required)

IMPORTANT: PARKING / DIRECTIONS UPDATE
Beginning Monday, November 11th, access to St. Luke from SW Vermont will be blocked all week because of sidewalk construction.
It's no problem to get to the church, but you must reach it via SW 45th. The full address is: 4595 SW California St, Portland, OR 97219. St. Luke's sits almost exactly behind (diagonally) the Plaid Pantry at SW 45th & Vermont. However, to reach it, you must go up the hill on 45th to the next street, which is SW California.
Simply follow SW California straight to the church. It dead-ends at the church and goes nowhere else. Turn right at the main sanctuary entrance to the church and follow the parking lot down around to the back side, where the conference room is located on the lower level, below the sanctuary.
